Before AMTRAK, Penn Central began operation of multiple unit electric cars known as Metroliners. Some of the cab cars have been converted for use on AMTRAK's Keystone Service. I purchased this coin a few years after service began.
The Newark City Subway replaced its fleet of PCC cars August 24, 2001. This coin was one of the commemoratives distributed on the last night of operation.
