NYSR-The JoeKorNer

History

The JoeKorNer was started in December 1995 on Prodigy, which was limited to about 10MB. In May of 1996, I found EARTHLINK and began my relationship with that company. Originally, ELN allowed about 10MB also, then they raised it to 20MB. All this time, it was part of the Member web space that all ELN subscribers get for using the service.

By October 1996, I had found New York Subways Resources and Dave Pirmann, who offered to host my rail items and photos. Over the years, I added my slides and photos from the 1970's, railroad dinnng car menus, brochures from many lines, and of course my revisit photos to the places of my railfan youth.

In August 2000, I registered my domain officially as the JoeKorNer.com, also with ELN. That came with 100MB of space. As a result, all of my web pages were split between the ELN server and the NYSR server.

The Move

In 2006, ELN increased the basic .com web site space to 2GB and in 2007 to 5GB. I did some calculations and found that I could fit everything that is on the NYSR server onto the ELN server with space to spare. It also allowed my to reorganize the pages into some logical groups.

I spent the fall of 2006 making the move and completed the major work the weekend of September 24, 2006.

There were some techincial issues that I had to work out, but for the most part the move is done. As of today, I am moving all of the links away from the NYSR server to ELN. There may still be a few that I missed and I'd appreciate it if you would let me know with or the one at the bottom of this page.

Thanks to David

I want to take the opportunity to thank Dave Pirmann for the support for the10 years of hosting the JoeKorNer. He has agreed to allow my pages to remain on the NYSR server for some time, until I'm sure everything was moved properly.
